[Notice] Announcement Regarding COVID19 > foreigner

In response to COVID19, a crisis that is affecting not just Korea but all of humanity, The 40^th Commemorative Event Committee for the May 18 People’s Uprising has come to the following decisions:

1.     The 40^th festival celebrating the eve of the May 18^th People’s Uprising has been cancelled, along with all events, competitions, meetings, et cetera, which require congregation of people.

2.     However, we have decided to proceed with the bare minimum, by holding a small-scale memorial ceremony and revival event while adhering to social distancing guidelines.

3.     The art and culture events may be held later in the future, or may be reconfigured so that we can be with the public in a different way.

The value and meaning of the 40^th commemoration of the May 18 People’s Uprising is not something we can easily define and dismiss. Our priority at this time is to continue unveiling the truth of the May 18^th Uprising. In the process of bettering our democracy and fighting for justice for all, we must reflect on the past forty years and envision what the next forty years can bring us.

We will continue to find ways to be with you, to commemorate the significance and spirit of the 40^th anniversary in novel ways.
